Yes – your quotation from Locus will include the necessary hooks and holders for your utensils. In some cases where there are special / bespoke requirements, we may agree (following mutual discussion) for you to fix utensil hanging brackets to the shadow board(s) yourself.

As the name suggests, Foamex is a sheet material made from PVC foam. Following extensive testing and market feedback, we believe Foamex is not hardwearing enough for shadow boards, and almost certainly causes food safety and bacteria concerns in high risk environments. Locus recommends using fully certified, composite aluminium material for shadow boards.

Yes – Locus boards are made from material suitable for external use. Our direct print and hot laminate process make our shadow boards significantly more suited to outdoor applications than some alternative options which use cold laminate or apply vinyl shadows. All laminates are external grade.

Locus is the only manufacturer to offer a method of attaching shadow boards to walls that can be removed for clean down or straightforward relocation.

No – all Locus shadow boards have provision for a logo as standard at no extra charge.

Each outlet has it’s own protocol and requirements for fixing shadow boards to walls and in working areas. We therefore recommend boards are installed by your inhouse team (e.g. engineering). We are available to advise as required.

A frequent problem! Locus offers static and mobile stainless steel frames for shadow boards, allowing you to locate anywhere you need. You can find all our fixing options here.

From receiving your brief, we aim to provide you with a no obligation quotation within 24 hours. Once we receive your purchase order/ payment (subject to account status), our design team will provide full visual proofs, so you can see exactly what your boards look like. Once you have signed off the proofs, your order is moved to production and will be delivered within 5-7 working days of proof approval. If you have an urgent deadline, please speak to our team about fast track turnaround – we will be happy to discuss your timeline and come up with a plan!

Please specify at time of enquiry whether you wish us to include utensils on quotation. We recommend them! For cleaning stations, utensils for the shadow boards are always included on the quotation as standard.

We fully recommend that our shadow boards are purchased with utensils for better visual presentation (as everything will match up) and reducing your equipment replacement costs!

As the requirements for each factory/facility are different, we do not supply boards with wall fixings. Note: where 25mm stand-offs are selected, these are supplied but not the wall fixings. Please contact our shadow board team for more information.

We do not charge for standard shadow board designs. Simply request a quote from the standard range, or get in touch and we will provide a no obligation quotation. On receipt of your order, full visual proofs will be provided free of charge. We will not proceed to print until you have signed off the proofs.

The majority of our boards are bespoke to our customers’ precise equipment requirements, so our design team are well-practiced at efficiently fitting all the necessary tools and utensils into the smallest possible board size. This keeps the cost of the shadow boards to a minimum. If you have specific dimensions you wish to work to, please contact our team who will be happy to advise.

The life span of Locus shadow boards depends on your application and environment, but we have many customers with shadow boards still going strong after over 8 years! Often, a change of colour coding policy or equipment needs drive a change in shadow board requirements before they reach the end of their working life. Our composite aluminium shadow boards are made from hard-wearing and durable materials, and our UV cured coating also increases the life of the shadow board by removing the risk of peeling shadows.

In addition to the standard 11 hygiene colours from Locus, our state-of-the-art design and print facilities allow us to print whatever colour and design you wish for. Our simple process ensures you get your shadow boards in good time with ease.

Whilst many of the boards we supply are wall-mounted, in many cases, fixing shadow boards to the wall is not an option. This could be due to a number of factors, such as limited wall space or factory walls that cannot be drilled into. In large production spaces, it could also be a case of the walls being too far away from the required area.

Depending on your specific needs, Locus can offer two shadow board styles that don’t need to be fixed to the wall:

Magnetic shadow boards: Locus’s magnetic shadow boards attach to any magnetic surface without the need for mechanical fixings, so they do not damage walls. This makes them easy to move for cleaning or as requirements change, as they can easily be moved to an alternative location.

Free-standing shadow board frames: Locus’s stainless steel mobile or static shadow board frames can be placed in any location as required, even if there are no walls available.
